The Willows Fire Department is responsible for providing emergency response services to the City of Willows and surrounding communities, including the Willows Rural Fire Protection District.
Department Staffing
The Fire Department is made up of:
- 4 uniformed personnel assigned to three alternating shifts
- 30 volunteer firefighters
- 1 fire station (Willows Central Fire Station)
Emergency Services Provided
Daily operations include:
- Structural firefighting
- Wildland firefighting
- Emergency medical response
- Hazardous materials response
- Fire and bomb investigations
Service Area & Response
Emergency response is carried out from the Willows Central Fire Station, which serves approximately 80 square miles and protects a population exceeding 10,000 residents.
The Department’s response area consists of two districts operating out of a single fire station:
Willows Rural Fire Protection District
- Population: approximately 3,000
- Coverage Area: approximately 78 square miles
Willows City District
- Population: approximately 6,000
- Coverage Area: approximately 2 square miles
In 2012, the Department responded to approximately 802 calls for service, with an average response time of 4 minutes per call.
